For pre-order food sellers

One tray of brownies, what is the profit?

Most sellers guess. Sobiku works it out from what you actually paid, and keeps it honest when prices rise.

A worked example

Here is how it does the sums

You enter an ingredient price once. After that every recipe using it re-costs itself, including recipes whose parts are other recipes, like a filling or a topping.

Baked brownies cut into squares, cooling on a wire rack.

Sobiku redoes the sums, not you.

The problem

Four places, and none of them talk to each other

Pricing lives in a spreadsheet. Orders arrive in chat. Deposits get worked out on a calculator, and the production schedule is in a notebook. When butter goes up, not one of the four changes.

How it works

Three steps to start

  1. 1

    Add ingredients

Put in what you actually paid. It is the only number you have to keep up yourself.

    Ingredients

    Flour

    Priced per gram

    Buy price

    Rp 15 / g

    Sugar

    Priced per gram

    Buy price

    Rp 18 / g

    Butter

    Priced per gram

    Buy price

    Rp 60 / g

  2. 2

    Build recipes

Pick the ingredients and the amounts. The cost shows up straight away, and so does what is left over at the price you want to sell at.

    Recipes

    Brownies Panggang

  3. 3

    Take orders

An order comes in and its deposit is recorded. The balance gets chased over WhatsApp as the pickup day gets close.

Once orders come in

Never again work out who only paid half

Orders group themselves by pickup day, nearest first. Each one keeps its own record of what has come in and what has not.

  • Each order shows where it has got to without being opened: new, confirmed, or ready to collect.

  • How many land on the same day is visible before you take one more.

  • A returning customer can be picked as you write the next order.

Features

What you can do

  • Nested recipe costs

A recipe can contain another recipe, a base or a filling you make yourself. The costing still goes all the way down to raw ingredients.

  • Price-rise alerts

The moment you change what an ingredient costs, Sobiku shows you which recipes just got thinner.

  • Daily shopping list

Every order for one day rolled into a single shopping list, already totalled per ingredient.

  • Works offline

Orders can still be written down when the signal drops, and they send themselves once there is a connection again.

  • WhatsApp messages ready to send

Confirmations, chasers and ready-for-pickup notices come filled in with the name and the figures. You are the one who presses send.

  • A record for each customer

Address, allergy notes and past orders are kept against the customer they belong to.

Questions

Common questions

Do I have to pay now?

No. Everything is free during beta and we do not ask for card details.

Can I use it if I do not sell cakes?

Yes. All Sobiku works from is ingredients, amounts and orders, so catering, frozen food or market snacks are all the same to it.

Do I have to enter all my recipes before I can start?

No. Start with the one you sell most. Each ingredient only goes in once, so every recipe after the first is quicker than the last.

Is Sobiku an app I have to install?

Sobiku is coming as an Android and iPhone app, installed from the Play Store or App Store the usual way. A web version follows, for anyone who would rather work on a laptop.

Does Sobiku send WhatsApp messages automatically?

No. It prepares the text and opens WhatsApp. You press send, so you can always edit first.

Do I lose my data when beta ends?

No. Your shop, recipes and orders carry over when Sobiku leaves beta.

What about my customers’ data?

It is stored for your shop only, and deleted with your account. See the Privacy Policy.

Sobiku is not a paid product yet. We are trying it out with a small group of sellers, and all we want back is what you think of it.

If it ever costs money we will tell you well in advance. No bill is going to appear out of nowhere, and there is no card number to enter now.
